A New Approach to the Perils of Overfishing

Why is Gillian Anderson nude wrapped in a conger eel? Posing for a British campaign called Fishlove. Photographs in dramatically lit studios, by renown photographers, of celebrities in the buff, expressing their love for assorted sea creatures all to bring awareness to overfishing and clean conscious eating. The campaign was produced by Nicholas Röhl, co-owner of Japanese restaurant MOSHIMO, based in Brighton, U.K. See the entire collection of photographs here.

Ben & Jerry's Say Goodbye to GMOs

It was a sad day when I told my four year old granddaughter that she couldn't have the ice cream she wanted because the ingredients were 'not good'. We were on a lovely summer-day stroll and wanted ice cream. I asked the vendor what type of sugar they used. They couldn't answer the question. So then I asked to see the ingredient list and they couldn't supply that either. So we passed on the purchase and went on the hunt for organic ice cream or at the very least ice cream that was made with recognizable ingredients. Needless to say it was a very long walk.

Storing Organic Produce

Once vegetables are picked they begin to lose nutrients. While there is no way to avoid this loss--other than growing the vegetables yourself and eating them right from the vine--you can easily increase the staying power of your vegetables by storing them properly.

Immune Boosters

This time of year, germs, environmental toxins and allergens are placing tremendous stress on our immune systems. Certain herbs and plants give our immune systems a boost by creating signals that mount a response to an invading pathogen. Astragalus, olive leaf and shiitake mushroom help white blood cells function properly and protect the body from infection.

Organic Beer

The earliest brew reference was a painted clay vessel dating from the fourth millennium BC. Interestingly enough, it shows two women drinking beer and you can bet your bottom buck it was organic. Today, as you eat your grass fed, locally-raised beef burger, or down a fabulous veggie burger with parsnip fries we can once again enjoy the experience by downing a local organic ale.
